OCULAR PROSTHETIC
- by nceh
An ocular prosthesis or an artificial eye is made of plastic that can be fitted to improve the appearance of people who have lost an eye to injury or disease. An ocular prosthesis may be needed after surgery when the jelly – like inside of the eye is removed (Evisceration) or after the entire eyeball is removed from the eye socket (Enucleation). Unfortunately, the plastic eye will have no vision.
